CROSSFIT FUNCTIONAL FITNESS

CrossFit Classes run throughtout the week, Monday through to Saturday. All of our packages include access to unlimited classes.

Classes are an hour long and comprise a warm up, strength as well as a conditioning program.

  For those individuals who would like a personal trainer or even train within a group, but from the comfort of your own home. We offer online personal training, and small group exercise sessions guided by a qualified coach.We even offer equipment rentals to make personalized

programming easier and more effective.

Some of our coaches offer one on one personal training in which a programme is customised to your specific needs.

Tiaan Campher as well as David Leith are both qualified and registered Biokineticists who operate from the gym. 

They are clinical exercise and rehabilitation specialists that can assist in any of the following:

-Injury prevention and rehabilitation 

-Chronic conditions

-Sport specific exercise prescription 

-Corporate health and wellness

OWNER

 TIAAN CAMPHER

Tiaan spent 8 years as a Biokineticist at the Sport Science Institute of South Africa where he gained a vast amount of experience and developed a special interest in injury rehabilitation and strength & conditioning. He was head of conditioning for UCT’s 1st rugby team for 7 years. In 2010 he moved into the private sector establishing his Biokinetics practice at Bishops Diocesan College. 

 

Tiaan discovered CrossFit in 2011, loved its concepts and has since applied the CrossFit training principles to his programming with great success.  In November 2013 Tiaan opened the doors to CrossFit Impi, and hasn’t looked back since.

  • BA Human Movement Science (UFS)

  • Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (NSCA – USA)

  • CrossFit Level 1 Certified Trainer

  CHRISNA CAMPHER

Chrisna has a strong background in business management and a passion for fitness.

As the co-owner she gets to express both these passions. Her goal is to create an environment where both staff and clients get the opportunity to develop in the best version of themselves.

She wants to create a space that’s professional, non-intimidating and conducive to community engagement. More importantly the environment and staff must guarantee results while ensuring you have the best time of your life.

Not only is Chrisna a dreamer, but she is a doer - she has great plans for the future of IMPI and it’s wonderful community.

COACH

 CHRIS DE KLERK

Christopher is half city boy, half farm boy, from Jozi. He has a devilish sense of humour, identifies with Stoic philosophy and is an avid motorcycle enthusiast. He has a passion for Olympic weightlifting and you’ll most often find him doing a bro sesh in the corner to his favourite ‘90s tune.

 

Chris first fell in love with Crossfit in 2013 in the CBD. The ability to be competitive and still be part of a greater community inspired him to learn more about the sport. Chris went on to certify as a CrossFit Level 1 trainer and coached part time. This was not all for the "farmboy", he continued he studies and went on to certify as a CrossFit Level 2 trainer as well as obtaining his Olympic Weight Lifting certification. Chris took the leap of faith in 2019 to pursue his career in fitness and dedicates his time to helping members realise and reach their fitness goals. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

MARK MANSON

I see athletes for one on one strength and conditioning, conduct testing of athletes from various sports and programme a way forward to improve their performance or help them return from injury, conduct  physiological testing and online coaching of endurance runners, prescribe and lead running specific strength and conditioning classes and coach CrossFit classes.

I love coaching because I see exercise as a crucial part of one's well being and movement as a fundamental part of being human. I am passionate about helping people move better and live their daily lives with less pain and greater confidence and in so doing, realise they are capable of much more than they ever would have thought.

COACH

 LUKE WEWEGE

Luke is a local Capetonian. He pursued his passion in sports and went on to study a BSc in Sport Science at the University of Stellenbosch as well as Honours in Biokinetics at the Sports Science Institute of South Africa (SSISA/UCT).

Having completed his degree, he moved over to KwaZulu Natal where he worked in private practice for 2 years. In addition to working in private practice, he was employed to run the High-Performance centre at Kearsney College, training various sporting squads.

He was drawn into Crossfit by his father and some friends , who got him roped in while he was in Stellenbosch. He was excited to see what he could do beyond the typical gym workout and learning all the olympic lifts. He felt challenged by the technicality it brought. He moved from Durban to Cape Town to explore new opportunities and began his own practice.

He is head coach based at Blackriver Crossfit and assists Crossfit Impi with some classes as well as one on one clients.

 EBEN LOUW

Eben started his CrossFit journey after moving to Cape Town from Stellenbosch, where he completed his studies, as a new challenge and a way of meeting people. After 3 years of being a member at CrossFit Impi, he decided to get more involved by becoming a CrossFit Level 1 Certified Trainer.


Eben works as an Investment Analyst at a boutique asset management company in the Cape Town. He has a BCom degree with majors in Statistics, Financial Management, and Investment Management, and a BCom (Hons) degree in Financial Analysis. He has also passed all three levels of the CFA Program and may be awarded the charter upon completion of the required work experience.

COACH

 KEREN SHAULOV

Keren started her CrossFit journey and joined the Impi family in 2017 when she moved down to Cape Town from Johannesburg. She immediately fell in love with the sport. Over the years she has competed in various friendly local competitions and has dropped into many boxes in South Africa and the US.  


Keren has always been active. She has a background predominantly in acrobatics, soccer, and general strength and conditioning training.  
Keren completed her CrossFit Level 1 Certificate in San Diego in 2018. She has formally been coaching at CrossFit Impi since May 2019. She is also CrossFit Impi’s ROMWOD coach. She is, in fact, our first and only female coach (the rose amongst the thorns). 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CrossFit Level 1 Certified Trainer

  • Bachelor of Social Science UCT

  • Pending: Honours Psychology UCT

Although CrossFit is a high intensity training program (that gets some serious results), the program is run by a qualified and experienced Biokineticists & highly skilled coaches, who understands the human body, understands injuries, and knows how to treat and modify exercises to suit your needs. The programming is designed and  modified to ensure maximum results with minimal risk. Our goal is to strive towards a healthy, better you, but to keep you as safe as possible on this amazing journey.

 

When you join CrossFit Impi, you don’t just buy into a training program, but a community who cares about you. It is our mission to serve and really look after the needs of the “Impi" community. The real beauty of the program is the support and encouragement you’ll get from your fellow athletes.

 

It is our aim to really get to know each and every member, to create an environment where everyone feels comfortable, where strangers become friends and where even the last person to finish is cheered on like a hero by the others, and no matter how bad your day has been, you always want to come back for some “CrossFit therapy”.
